Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
"Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?", has to be my favorite book. Not only are you able to comply a lesson on color recognition but you can also create one on animal recognition. I have created so many projects with this book. Unforunately, I do not have any pictures to upload but we all are educators so lets use our imagnation. I have created an apron with color blocks and under each color was the colored animal. I also have done the same project but instead of using an apron I used a bear that I cut out of a laundry detergent box (recycle). I allowed my students to recreate to the book page by page with their own drawing and handwriting (fine motor skills). The list goes on and on.

Hello Theresa - I have a lot of kids books that I like, but "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" is the first book I bought my grandchildren and godson. I love that book because you can use it to teach about color, counting, diversity, and change. My babies love it too.
ReplyDeleteMy ultimate favorite book is Something Good. Now that you can also do a variety of lessons with also.
ReplyDeleteMy 2s and 3s love Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See! As you mentioned in your post, this book is great for introducing all sorts of animals and colors. The only thing that I don't particularly like or fond of is the page displaying the blue horse. It is of course age appropriate and allows children to expand their imagination, like so many books that I have in my collection, but it is not realistic... so I hear this statement from my kids every time we read the book, "Horse aren't blue Mrs. Rachel." I of course, have to justify the author's decision and by saying... "the person who wrote this book want to color her horse blue! And then I ask my little ones... If you could color your horse any color you wanted what would it be and then i get like 10 different answers from 5 children. I love it! So yes this book is definitely one of our favorites!!
